EmCee Research’s experienced focus group recruiters excel at finding the participants who make our clients’ focus groups successful. Recruiting participants for some focus groups is easy, but for many clients finding the ideal participants isn’t straightforward and requires creative solutions. Our recruiters know where to find and engage untapped participants whose voices are regularly sought, but infrequently heard.
Participant Outreach

Many focus groups are filled with participants who seek out opportunities to participate, either by searching online for focus groups or through personal networks. EmCee Research conducts extensive manual outreach to recruit participants with opinions that are not represented by people who proactively try to participate in focus groups.
Targeted advertising is our first tool to recruit hard-to-find participants. This cost effective approach allows willing participants to identify themselves, and for us to find them based on direct and indirect keywords. By using both direct keywords, like “insulin prices” when recruiting people with Type 1 diabetes, and indirect keywords like “low sugar food” EmCee Research maximizes the number of potential participants that will see the advertisements.
Shoe-leather methods are our next tool to identify difficult to find participants. Member organizations, including groups for Type 1 diabetics and their parents, regularly hold conventions, and EmCee Research uses these opportunities to recruit focus group participants. Our recruiting experts hand out flyers outside convention halls, or for small, highly targeted populations will sponsor events and setup tables inside the convention hall.
Knowing our participants
EmCee Research’s database is a critical recruiting tool when general outreach does not yield the desired participants. Our in-house recruiters know who is in our focus group pool and have positive and ongoing relationships with our participants. We know who has kids, senior parents, is involved in group sports or is an avid hiker, and we use that information to engage our participant list to find new participants in their social networks.
We understand that meaningful insights come from the right participants. Our thoughtful, hands-on approach to recruiting ensures your focus groups include relevant, diverse and often overlooked voices. Whether your needs are straightforward or highly specific, our experienced team is here to help.
